Commercial and
Residential Concrete Superintendent
This is a position that demands some who understands the rewards of accountability and integrity. A candidate for this position will be comfortable with blueprints, spreadsheets or a trowel in their hands.
The ideal candidate would:
-Be able to read, conceptualize, and execute civil construction drawings for commercial work
-Fully understand construction staking for grading and concrete layouts
-Execute project schedules and goals
-Manage concrete projects, equipment, safety and personnel (crews, individual employees and subcontractors).
-Coordinate with other trades inside or outside of the Berkey Homebuilders family. Work with the office to efficiently schedule and manage crews to complete projects in a timely manner. Emphasize that the company's success is their success.
-Work with office personnel to efficiently measure performance, advise office personnel on what projects workforce is best suited to perform, advise office personnel on how equipment is meeting needs and what is mandatory to complete projects in the most profitable manner.
-Represent Berkey Home Builders at all meetings with engineers, project managers, inspectors, etc. for projects that we are subcontractors on.
-Schedule all progress meetings necessary for projects where we are the prime contractor.
-Recruit and train employees to cross-train and advance their skills so they may grow with the company.
-Work with a foreman to establish regular maintenance of equipment owned by Berkey Home Builders. Work with a foreman to efficiently pick up or have rental equipment on the job site before needed.
-Anticipate changing work conditions (for example weather, employee availability, change orders, etc.) and provide solutions or ask for additional resources before efficient progress is slowed or stopped.

Must be able to fluently read and speak English

Minimum 5 years of concrete experience

Minimum of 3 years as foreman/ superintendent

Ability to get or possession of a Class A or B CDL

Ability to operate concrete related equipment

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour

Senior Construction Estimator and Project Manager
Senior Construction Estimator/Project Manager
This position will report directly to the owners of Berkey Homebuilders, Inc. and Berkey Construction. You will be accountable for the financial success of multiple projects and have a direct impact on the success of your team members. You will operate within the company’s goals set forth including but not limited to profitability, budget, timelines, customer satisfaction, and vision of Berkey.
The Senior Estimator/Project Manager is responsible for the cost control functions for all construction projects. This will include estimates, analysis of archived data, comparison and feasibility, and present and historical cost reports.

Excellent estimating skills, the ability to envision the required needs of a project with or without each item outlined in construction drawings and documents

Ability to mentally construct a building or project from drawings

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Attention to detail demonstrated by accuracy, creative thinking, understanding balance within a project, prioritizing projects with or without deadlines put in place.

Effective Communication skills; the ability to interact with individuals in the field, city officials, designers/architects, ownership, and customers

Interpret and understand contract language and general conditions

Understanding and ability to work needed hours based on the requirements of a project or work load

Ability to manage multiple focuses such as concrete pours to vertical construction

This position is commercial and residential focused
A successful candidate will need a strong background in Microsoft office pack, Google Applications, Trimble estimating software, Trimble GPS software, and Revit/Auto Cad. The candidate will be responsible for acquiring, estimating, managing and closing out projects. The ability to think “big picture”, understanding needs, budget, and deadlines. Then transfer that thinking into specifications that can be communicated and presented properly.
A four-year degree in construction engineering or construction management is preferred. 5 years of responsible estimating in a similar position required. A related college degree with extended experience is acceptable.
